Wisconsin Unions 2011

In some ways, I feel sorry for the Wisconsin state union workers, but not by a lot. Once again, a union got too much power, gave out too much "candy", and then got their hand caught in the cookie jar. Now they have to give back because situations are unrealistic.

Ever hear: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union..."

The voters of Wisconsin are a union of the people. They voted for fiscal responsibility. Why don't they get heard?

Why did the state Democrats flee to hang the system? That isn't American to throw a tantrum when the minority doesn't get its way. Those Democrats were voted in to do a job, and they aren't doing it. The proper way of doing things is to vote "no" on legislation that they don't like. If that legislation becomes unpopular, they win the majority the next election round and can change it.

The way things are now, the public unions hold the state hostage. Public unions cannot tell the state what to do and how to spend money. They weren't elelected for that.

President Carter cut off collective bargaining in the federal public unions in the 1970's. Why isn't anyone yelping about that? Hello Obama?

Public unions have some insane civil service protection clauses that far exceed anything the private sector gets. Why isn't that mentioned more? These clauses almost make the unions redundant.

Even without collective bargaining, the unions will still have a very large voice at the negotiating table. Where's the voice of the people to counter it?

Teachers claiming medical leave and getting doctors to sign absentee notes when they aren't sick is FRAUD. They deserve to be fired on that ground alone. Those doctors also deserve a medical review board to examine the fitness of decision making.
